Mind you this is considered a Pocket PC! It utilizes the Windows CE 3.0 OS but no microsoft apps and should not be considered a Pocket PC. It is run by casio apps. So you will not get the full functionality of a all out Pocket PC
Casio Pocket PC 2000(and Pocket Manager) Overview
You may notice that the Casio E-200 Pocket PC 2002 is not here, that is because I am making a separate page for the new Pocket PC 2002 so don't get all bent out of shape. My whole view on the casio series of Pocket PC is that they all come with beautiful, crisp, vibrant, and colorful screens in which I would recommend anyone who looks for displays. But if your someone who is outside a lot they TFT's on most Casio lines tend to fade out in direct sunlight, otherwise inside the screen is crisp. The processor may not be up to par with the Compaq Ipaq series, but if your looking for a multimedia pocket pc for games, mp3 listening, and photos the EM-500 is perfect for you! (hey it works for me and I'm a high school student). But if your looking for more storage and not quite the processing power you may be able to find the Casio E-115 cheap on a auction or a good online distributor it comes loaded with 32 MB Ram and 16 MB ram and has a type II compact flash slot. Unlike the Casio EM-500 Pocket PC which has a MMC slot (MultiMedia Card) which does not have quite the mass capacity storage of the
Compact Flash cards but it works good if you are looking for some simple, and believe me VERY small memory. You can find it pretty cheap on the internet but in stores you'll probably find a 32 MB card for about 50 or 60 bucks and I have yet to find a 64 MB card for a good price.
I have yet to see a Casio EG-800 but it seems to me its wayyyyyy to expensive for its own good, you could just buy a Casio EM-500 for 300 bucks buy some extra memory and get a stylish looking Pocket PC and a beautiful screen. The EG-800 to me is a waste of 900 bucks for a bulky, ugly, and heavy Pocket PC which is definitely what I think is a waste. The only positive thing I can basically say about the EG-800 is the very extended battery use which can last up to 17 hours.
The E-125 and E-115 seem a tid bit pricy and I am expecting the prices to drop in the near future due to the fact that there kinda out dated by more recent Pocket PC's. There processors are kinda behind but I'm expecting Casio to come out with a new line soon....Hopefully. But if your looking for a cheap solution and you just need a Pocket PC for personal organization and some style go for the HP Jornada 525, it has a 8 bit color screen CF slot and to me is great for personal organization, but not many good games are made for it so far.
Overall the Casio Pocket PC 2000 series to me is a great line if your looking for beautiful screens, mediocre processors, and expansion capability. Other then the fact TARGUS has yet to release a version of there famous Stowaway keyboard for the Casio Line, but until then I'm going to have to suffice for a Landware GoType! keyboard. Which is good enough for me to take notes for lectures and organization. Otherwise the Casio series are sometimes a tid bit pricy and the older versions have a Serial connectivity. If your willing to fork out almost 400 bucks for a Pocket PC then I believe Casio is the way to go. Unless you want the lowly Ipaq *yuck*. Well these are my thoughts...not yours. ~Kenny Wassus
